Release Notes 2024.02.06

In this update, we added functionally requested by many as well as addressing bugs to ensure smoother navigation and functionality within our platform. These changes apply to the institutional license.

Enhancements

  1. Daily historical view: Users now can explore their strategy in greater detail, with daily data complementing the monthly snapshots in the buy/sell lists.
  2. Turnover metric in backtest: Introducing the turnover metric. The turnover is calculated based on the amount of selling and trimming down. We decided to opt for this methodology as we assume that purchases could also be the result of initiating the portfolio or reinvesting dividends.
  3. Enhanced distribution display: The factor attribution report now presents distribution figures with two digits instead of one, enhancing precision and clarity.
  4. Confirmation for cancelation: Prior to canceling any changes made to the buy/sell rules and backtest settings, the interface will request confirmation from users to proceed with their decision.
  5. U.S. Estimates exception handling: Our system now displays “zeros” instead of “nothing” for some U.S. estimates, aligning with the methodology used in the Canadian market. This includes:
    • Missing PY/CY/NY median & average EPS are now represented as 0s.
    • All other fields are still shown as “nothing”, including:
      • PY/CY/NY highest/lowest values
      • Recommendations
      • Target prices

Bug Fixes

  1. Pooled strategies – Precedence:  The button was always on “no” despite the user selection.
  2. Backtest performance – The backtest was not properly calculating performance when the backtest would finish with a month ending with “29” or earlier (E.g December 29, 2023). Other small fixes were applied to correctly align the performance between the strategy and the benchmark in specific scenarios.
  3. Buy/sell rule selection: The interface would not always remember changes such as the change of “top percentile” to “top stocks”.
  4. Miscellaneous fixes for backtest – In specific scenarios, the backtest could crash or sell the whole portfolio at a random date.
