In the second quarter of 2025, the S&P/TSX rose by 8.5%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 significantly rose by 10.9%. The MCSI ACWI ex USA saw the highest increase of 12.3% compared to the other two.
At the end of the 12-month period ending June 30, the S&P/TSX had an incredible performance of 26.4%. The S&P 500 grew by 15.2%, while the MSCI ACWI ex USA experienced an increase of 18.4%.
The NQICAT reported a quarterly performance increase of 8.3%, and on an annual basis, it grew by 8.4%.
The top- performing TSX sectors for the second quarter included IT, which was up by 15%, Consumer Discretionary, which was up by 12.9% and Financial, which was up by 12.1%
Most sectors growth was positive, with Energy and Industrials being the only two exceptions, as Energy declined by 2.6% and Industrials saw a decline of 1.2%.
The leading quarterly performers in NQICAT was Dollarama Inc, which reported a notable increase of 24.8%, followed by National Bank of Canada with a growth of 19.3%, and Stella Jones Inc with a growth of 15.9%.
On the other hand, the underperformers in NQICAT included Enghouse Systems Ltd, which reported a decline of 7.8%, Restaurants Brand Intl Inc., which decreased by 5%, and Alimentation Couche-Tard, which saw a drop of 4.3%.
