At the end of the 12-month period ending June 30, the S&P\/TSX had an impressive performance of 32.9%. The S&P 500 grew by 22.3%, while the MSCI ACWI ex USA experienced an increase of 28.3%.<\/p>\n
The NQICAT also performed well this quarter and reported a quarterly performance increase of 8.5%. On an annual basis, it grew by 22.8%.<\/p>\n
The top-performing TSX sectors for the second quarter included Financials, which was up by 25.6%, HealthCare, which was up by 15.8%, and IT, which increased by 14.7%.Most sector growth was positive, with Materials, Energy, and Telecom being the exceptions. Materials declined by 11.5%, Energy declined by 11.4%, and Telecom saw a decrease of 10.0%.<\/p>\n
The leading quarterly performers in NQICAT were Hammond Power Solutions Inc. (HPS.A.TO), which reported an incredible increase of 98.1%, followed by TFII.TO with growth of 35.2%, and MSA.TO with growth of 32.6%. On the other hand, the underperformers in NQICAT included Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNQ.TO), which reported a decline of 16.4%, Stella-Jones Inc.
