The Canadian\u00a0<\/span>ETF<\/span>\u00a0Industry ended the first quarter<\/span>\u00a0of 2021<\/span>\u00a0with assets under management of $278 billion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The number of new ETF listings keeps on increasing with 23 new listings added in March.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

RBC iShares expanded its Sustainable ETFs suite with three\u00a0<\/span>ESG Leaders ETFs.\u00a0<\/span>These ETFs currently\u00a0<\/span>seek<\/span>\u00a0to track MSCI indices that are designed to\u00a0<\/span>provide<\/span>\u00a0efficient exposure to companies\u00a0<\/span>demonstrating<\/span>\u00a0more sustainable business practices\u00a0<\/span>relative to<\/span>\u00a0their industry peers, while\u00a0<\/span>providing<\/span>\u00a0sector balance and market coverage. The ETFs can be used as sustainable equity building blocks for the core of a portfolio.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Desjardins also\u00a0<\/span>launched an ESG ETF.\u00a0<\/span>The Desjardins\u00a0<\/span>RI<\/span>\u00a0Emerging Markets \u2013 Low CO2 Index ETF (\u201c<\/span>DRME-T<\/span><\/b>\u201d) complements the range of ETFs designed to significantly reduce carbon intensity\u00a0<\/span>relative<\/span>\u00a0to traditional equity indices.<\/span>\u00a0Under normal market conditions, the Fund will primarily invest in large and mid-cap companies from the Scientific Beta Emerging Markets Universe while seeking to deliver a significant reduction in the weighted average carbon intensity of the Fund\u2019s portfolio and ensuring that all Constituent Issuers meet Pre-Determined ESG Standards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Emerge<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Canada Inc. introduced Canada<\/span>\u2019s first space exploration ETF,\u00a0<\/span>sub-advised by ARK Investment Management LLC. The\u00a0<\/span>Emerge ARK Space Exploration ETF<\/span>\u00a0is an\u00a0<\/span>actively-managed<\/span>\u00a0exchange-traded fund that\u00a0<\/span>invests<\/span>\u00a0in global equity securities of companies that are or, are expected to be, focused on leading, enabling, or\u00a0<\/span>benefitting<\/span>\u00a0from technologically enabled products and\/or services that occur beyond the surface of the Earth.<\/span>\u00a0Its top holdings, as of March 31<\/span>st<\/span>, are Trimble Inc.<\/span>\u00a0(\u201c<\/span>TRMB-Q<\/span><\/b>\u201d)<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Kratos Defence and Security\u00a0<\/span>(\u201c<\/span>KTOS-Q<\/span><\/b>\u201d)\u00a0<\/span>and L3harris Technologies Inc.\u00a0<\/span>(\u201c<\/span>LHX-N<\/span><\/b>\u201d).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CI First Asset launched\u00a0<\/span>the cheapest bitcoin ETF, in terms of management fee.\u00a0<\/span>The CI Galaxy Bitcoin ETF\u00a0<\/span>is the World\u2019s third bitcoin ETF.\u00a0<\/span>Interest in the cryptocurrency space\u00a0<\/span>is accelerating<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0<\/span>first\u00a0<\/span>bitcoin ETF has already hit a billion dollars<\/span>\u00a0in assets under management<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in less than two months<\/span>\u00a0of trading<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Horizons ETFs even came out with\u00a0<\/span>an\u00a0<\/span>inverse<\/span>\u00a0bitcoin ETF on April 15<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0for investors who want a short exposure\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span> bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n
