In this week’s content analysis (see attached), we will be using StockPointer to draw a comparison between two companies operating in the same sector, and both having recently submitted their Q1 2015 financial statements. The two companies, Cogeco (CCA) and Shaw Communications (SJR.B), also happen to both be held in our Canadian model portfolio.

As of January 19th, both CCA and SJR.B are top-10 in EVA amongst Consumer Discretionary stocks in the S&P/TSX Composite index, with CCA ranking 4th and SJR.B 7th (SPScores of 63% and 61%, respectively). Despite this near-equivalence, we will endeavour in this analysis to distinguish several differences which might help you make a selection.
